Want to know how to best prepare for Vanilla World of Warcraft? Here is our list of 4 things you can do to prepare for WoW Classic:

1. Choose Your Race and Class

Decide what you want to play at end game. Leveling is hard in Vanilla WoW– don’t waste your time. One way to help decide what class you want to play is to decide what you want to do at end game. Do you want to go head-to-head in PvP? Only do 5-man dungeons? Raid content? Deciding what role you want to play at end game will help you choose which class you want.

2. Plan Your Leveling Route (try some guides!)

Deciding what race you will play as will determine your starter zone. From here, you can plan your leveling route. Having a plan will be critical in the early days of WoW Classic, as the started zones will be flooded with players.

VanillaGuide is an in-game leveling addon for Vanilla World of Warcraft based on Joana/Mancow’s original Vanilla leveling guides. VanillaGuide will tell you exactly what to do and where to go for the most efficient leveling possible.

That said, many players are aware that VanillaGuide exists. As such, you may want to consider alternative options during the initial rush after launch (for example: alternative grinding spots or hidden quests).

3. Play on a Private Server

Why not get some actual practice in? Playing on a private server will get the content fresh in your mind so you can hit the ground running when WoW Classic launches. If you’re familiar with the content, you won’t have to refer to guides or databases as much and be able to blast through stuff from memory. This will be especially useful in the beginning of WoW Classic when the starter zones are swamped with players. Try to figure out the most efficient leveling routes, alternative grinding spots, and overly difficult quests in order to make the most efficient use of your time.

4. Prepare Your Addons

There is no guarantee that the existing Vanilla addons will work in WoW Classic. However, Blizzard’s addon interface has typically been backwards-compatible, so it’s worth a shot! Go ahead and download the addons you would like and prepare them by unzipping them all into a single folder on your computer. That way, you can simple copy and paste everything into your Interface folder the moment WoW Classic drops.

  1. The most important thing for me is getting my name. 🙂
But seriously I would like to find a guild before hand so I can get into some leveling groups in the beginning.
